Transfers

Gooners

I usually don’t give any thought to what the opposition buys. I am generally confident with the players Arsenal have at their disposal. However, after the constant barrage of criticisms by the media and some managers, I could not stop myself stealing a glance at the players being bought by Premiership oppositions. And what is the underlying theme, FOREIGN. Guess what, the media are not giving stick to these teams. I thought the media was supposed to champion the cause to bring England back to football glory?

I guess their defence for being hypocrites and two-faced are that Arsenal rarely field English players and that is even more detrimental. Is it? Who are you kidding? No wonder Wenger sticks two fingers up at ‘the development of the English national team’. He is right in that the development of Arsenal comes first and foremost, and if that development spills over to any national teams, then so be it.

It is truly enjoyable reading/watching those so called patriotic managers bitch about development of England when they themselves look offshore when they want to ‘improve’ their squad.

I couldn't agree more with what you've written, as I had noticed the trend to buy "foreign" during this transfer window myself.

Where is the ceo of the PFA, Gordon Taylor, spouting his usual "circle the wagons!" crap?

Where are the little englanders, making camp at the white cliffs of Dover?

Where are the untried television and media pundits?
